Sci.8 - Light:Topic 5 Extending Human Vision

Today we are:  reviewing the eye and beginning vision extension
I will: learn of tools used to extend human vision
I can: list 3 tools used to extend human vision

1.  Watch this please. When done, login to Moodle and make a blog posting.

2.  We need to learn about some different tools to extend our vision.  We will go to the lab and look at 3 examples.

3.  Make some notes in Evernote that describe microscopes, binoculars and telescopes.  You can learn about telescopes here, or find your own source.

4.  Share your notes with Mr. I.  He will show you how to do this.

Sci.8 - Light:Topic 4 The Eye & Camera Notes

Today we are:  making notes comparing the eye to a camera
I will: learn the similarities between the eye and a camera
I can: identify similar parts between these two structures
I can: identify what the parts do

1.  Watch this please. When done, login to Moodle and make a blog posting.

2.  We need to compare the eye to a camera.  Watch this video to help "see" the similarities.  Did you see what I did there?  You know the who "see" thing?  I even put it in quotes to improve the joke quality.  Your probably not even reading this are you? :)

3.  Make some notes in Evernote that compares these parts; film, diaphragm, lens, focussing ring, ciliary muscles, iris and retina.  You can use the information from the video.  Your textbook which can be found here, look on page 211 or a website like this one.

4.  Complete this questionnaire.

Sci.8 - Light:Topic 4 The Eye Notes

Today we are:  making notes on the eye
I will: learn how to markup a document
I can: insert pictures I took into my notes
I can: draw on these pictures
I can: recall the 3 parts observed in the dissection.

1.  Watch this please. When done, login to Moodle and make a blog posting.

2.  We need to insert the pictures we took from the lab on Friday into our notes.  Please share the pictures with your lab members.  You can email, share a google doc airdrop or any other way you know to get the pictures to each other.

3.  Insert the pictures you took into your Evernote Document that has the labelled diagram on it.

4.  Label the retina, lens and iris on each picture (you should have 3).  Use the markup tool.  I will show you how here in this video.  It will be a bit different on the ipads, so you might have to explore a bit.

I will: see the insides of a real eye
I can: identify the lens, retina and iris in a sheep eye
I can: use a diagram of an eye to find these parts
I can: recall what the parts do

1.  Today we will go into the lab and complete the dissection.  In your groups, you will need to follow along with my instructions.

2.  Please take pictures of the 3 parts, lens, retina and iris.
